THE TŪN-GĀST OF OAKSHAW
THE TŪN-GĀST OF OAKSHAW
In THE TŪN-GĀST OF OAKSHAW, the main character and monster hunter, Devin Crowley, has returned to his hometown of Oakshaw to sort out the strange and spooky occurrences at the Sharp Manor.
Here the main character, Devin, interviews Jefferson Sharp, the arrogant but timid heir to the Sharp family.
INT. WINTER DRAWING ROOM - DAY
DEVIN finds JEFFERSON SHARP sitting in a chair and reading a book. He ignores DEVIN until he is interrupted.
Intro chat.
DEVIN
Jefferson Sharp, I presume?
JEFFERSON
You presume correctly. You’re the one Father
has looking into… ?
*****
DEVIN has 4+ possible conversation topics to discuss.
{Player prompts:)
Ask about the deaths, and anything strange that’s happened recently.
1B. Devin asks about the strange noises in the house.
Ask about Beth Sharp.
Ask about the missing necklace;the empty box in the grand hallway (the empty box option will appear only if Devin has already investigated it; if not, this option will not appear)
{Bonus option! Only appears if Devin has spoken to the Chef about the rat problem. This currently requires speaking with the SHARP CHEF about odd noises.)
I should be going. [end the conversation]}
1: Devin asks about the recent deaths, then about anything unusual/strange/out of the ordinary they’ve noticed recently.
DEVIN
The recent odd goings-on, aye, sir. And the
deaths. Devin Crowley, at your service.
JEFFERSON
Deaths? Good heavens, I know nothing about those.
DEVIN
Perish the thought.
(options)
1) Have you seen anything odd?
2) What do you know about the recent deaths?
3) Do you suspect a murderer or perchance
something more sinister?
JEFFERSON
(responses)
1) Other than your presence in our manor,
sir?
2) Good heavens, man! Nothing. Nothing at
all.
3) Something more sinister? By my faith, sir,
no!
Murders, strange goings-on, and oddities? Are we in
London, Mr. Crowley?
DEVIN
Hardly, Mr. Sharp. Have you seen naught then, sir?
JEFFERSON
As the sole person to see the farmlands, there was
naught amiss. Well…
DEVIN
Mr. Sharp?
(options)
1) Was there something else, sir?
2) You have my full confidence in this
matter, sir. Speak freely.
3) You saw something, didn’t you?
JEFFERSON
(responses)
1) Nothing of import, Mr. Crowley.
2) Your confidence? I should hope so, sir!
3) Something, yes, but you shall not be
satisfied with my answer, I fear.
I espied a mangy, rabid hare, though it is hardly
strange. Considering.
DEVIN
Considering what, good sir?
JEFFERSON
A farm attracts pests. So common it’s cliché.
1b. Devin asks about the strange noises in the house.
DEVIN
And the house, sir?
(options)
1) Any ghosts or goblins?
2) Have you witnessed anything out
of the ordinary?
3) What have you experienced, sir?
4) What of these pests?
JEFFERSON
(responses)
1) Ghosts or goblins? You jest. What
next? Poltergeists?
2) Only the monster hunter before me.
3) I was born in this house, sir. I
know its every nook and cranny.
4) (only an option if Devin has spoken
to the Chef) While our servants are
their own shadow, they have of late
complained of rats. Poison the lot,
I say!
Same old clichés; creaking, whispering, odd
sounds…an old house is seldom quiet.
DEVIN
I find the dead are seldom quiet, sir.
JEFFERSON
Spot on, old chap. Was there anything else?
2: Devin asks about Beth Sharp.
DEVIN
And Beth Sharp, sir? When did you last see
your mother?
JEFFERSON
Ah, yes. Dear Mama. I saw her on the
grounds a few short hours before…
DEVIN
You saw Mrs. Sharp?
(options)
1) Before what, sir?
2) Speak, dammit! A woman’s life is
at stake.
3) Go on, please, Mr. Sharp.
JEFFERSON
Before she vanished. There! Is that strange
enough for you?
DEVIN
Strange, you say, sir?
(options)
1) When a person vanishes, it is
naught but strange in my experience.
2) I see naught but strange as of
late, sir.
3) Not as such, sir; if Mrs. Sharp
is found. Alive.
JEFFERSON
Hmpf. I see. Have you other fretful
queries, or might I return to my lecture?
3: Devin asks about the empty glass box on pedestal/missing necklace.
DEVIN
The missing jewelry, sir? Any idea
who might have absconded with it?
JEFFERSON
Like I said before, Mr. Crowley, a farm
attracts pests. Some take crops, others
precious baubles. Both vermin.
(If Devin has examined the empty case)
DEVIN
I noticed the empty case where the
necklace resided.
JEFFERSON
(sarcastic)
Sans the family heirloom. Quite an
investigator you are, Mr. Crowley, eh?
DEVIN
How long has it been in your family, sir?
JEFFERSON
According to Papa, since old Abraham Sharp
himself had it made for his blushing bride,
and it should have passed to my Ilene! May
the devil take the thief’s soul!
DEVIN
I shall keep an eye out for it, sir. Thank
you for the history.
JEFFERSON
4: I should be going. [end conversation]
DEVIN
I should be going, sir. Thank you for
your time and help, Mr. Sharp. Good-day.
JEFFERSON
Yes, yes. Ta ta!
